I read somewhere possible TD or Cat. 1 may hit??? Or am I seeing things? Lots of mumbo jumbo talk on a weather forum, but not sure what they were onto...something happening this week? I think I need to watch the weather, obviously.

Well, some bad weather must be coming. We've had fire ants coming into the house. Hubby said a co-worker is having the same problem. NHC is watching something around the Yucatan and it may develop into a tropical depression.

Upper level low is in the gulf now and expected to develop into Tropical Depression tonight or tomorrow. Recon flying in later today...possibly hitting between Mexico and Galveston... looks like there is some rain coming folks. KHOU says check with them hourly. They'll have it up on the front page but I always watch the videos on the weather page.

The WEDCo is putting on a Stratigic Disaster Planning Seminar on August 21st @ the Pioneer Student Center for all Wharton County Businesses. RSVP phone # 979-532-0999. I'd already planned to attend, however, given everything going on in the gulf I'd say it's going to be very timely for all biz owners.

Tropical depression forms in the central Gulf of Mexico... tropical storm watches issued... At 10pm CDT...0300 UTC...a tropical storm watch has been issued for the Texas coast from Freeport southward...and the government of Mexico has issued a tropical storm watch for the northeast coast of Mexico from Rio San Fernando northward. A tropical storm watch means that tropical storm conditions are possible within the watch area...generally within 36 hours.
For storm information specific to your area...including possible inland watches and warnings...please monitor products issued by your local weather office.
At 1000 PM CDT...0300z...the center of Tropical Depression Five was located near latitude 23.9 north...longitude 91.1 west or about 425 miles...685 km...east-southeast of Brownsville Texas and about 425 miles...680 km...east of La Pesca Mexico.
The depression is moving toward the northwest near 10 mph. This motion is expected to continue overnight with a turn to the west-northwest expected by late tomorrow. The center of the depression is forecast to be near the lower or middle Texas coast by Thursday morning.
Maximum sustained winds are near 30 mph...45 km/hr...with higher gusts. The depression is forecast to become a tropical storm prior to making landfall.
An Air Force Reserve unit reconnaissance aircraft estimated a minimum central pressure of 1006 mb...29.71 inches...earlier this evening.
Total rain accumulations of 3 to 5 inches are possible along the middle Texas coast...with isolated maximum amounts of 8 inches.
Repeating the 1000 PM CDT position...23.9 N...91.1 W. Movement toward...northwest near 10 mph. Maximum sustained winds...30 mph. Minimum central pressure...1006 mb.
An intermediate advisory will be issued by the National Hurricane Center at 100 am CDT followed by the next complete advisory at 400 am CDT.

Computer model getting more consistent on Dean heading to the western Gulf. Landfall second half of next week. Probably will be much stronger than the current event. "Erin" just doesn't seem to have enough time left over water to strengthen much. Whoever gets Dean may have their hands full, even if something changes and it heads for the east coast.

Looks like everybody in Corpus is blowing up their float toys.. (I know we're not supposed to call Corpus Corpus, but I always have and don't care if it offends anyone)

Usually the snooty people who live in Corpus..
the reason, is Corpus Christi means "Body or Corpse of Christ".. and they don't like to have their city referred to as "Corpse"...
I always reminded them if they'd named their town "Jumping Jesus" everybody would probably call their town "Jumping.."

Be ready for this one. Could spin up quickly at the end. Potential for lots of rain in any case with really no room for any extra.

Almost all of the models now are keeping it south heading into the Yucatan peninsula. Not as much of a worry as it was but still needs watching.

Not good. Models starting to drift back north. Next Thursday is D-Day (Dean Day) if this keeps up. Great. Saturated ground from Erin, then Dean less than a week later. Stay ready.
