What's everyone packing for the evacuation? I've already washed and rinsed by plastic bottle collection (I refuse to buy bottled water) and will freeze them to go in the cooler to drink and to keep cooler cool. Taking WalMart Equate Diet Milk Shakes and Bunches of the healthy sugarless cookies. and some Yogurts... Laptop with all the accessories. Battery powered Radios (2) and TV (2) Lots of Batteries and battery charger. Glock, Derringer, 12 ga. Winchester Defender (ammo) Machete Ball Bat Tire Iron (for breaking the windows in case I drive off a bridge and end up underwater with those electric windows that will short out Pillows, Comforter, travel bag with clothes.. Toilet Paper, Kleenex, and a coupla rolls of Paper towels and styrofoam cups.. Cat Box, Cat litter, cat water and food bowl and food her toys.
am thinking about taking the exercycle with me, up to 35 miles a day and am addicted..

Just like last time the WCUnleashed servers are not located in WC or any ground zero landing point. Yall should be able to log on here in the event of an evacuation for any news and updates.

I think they are just trying to alert people since the devastation with Rita... Getting out the elderly and stuff. It is a bit early though...but ya know if they didn't do it then someone would say "why didn't they warn us way ahead of time?!"

The media is wishing it northward to Houston. I am too. That way we'll be on the "clean" side of the storm and Houston will get another "national Media attention day"

Anyone hear about the "tanks being out of order" at the Exxon on Alabama and Shamrock on Boling Highway today? Hope they're not trying to be sneaky and hoard their gas and jack up the prices for the hurricane.

Anyone hear about the "tanks being out of order" at the Exxon on Alabama and Shamrock on Boling Highway today? Hope they're not trying to be sneaky and hoard their gas and jack up the prices for the hurricane. they might not be getting gas shipments... read on the WJS that they are shippin gas to the coastal areas so they have plenty to evacuate... www.journal-spectator.com/front1.shtml Preparations begin as Hurricane Dean heads this way A motorist powers through a flooded section of Alabama Street on Thursday after a rain storm. Residents could see much more of this if Hurricane Dean hits here. - City and county officials are preparing for the worst as Hurricane Dean continues heading west toward the Texas coast. As the Wharton Police Department and Wharton County Sheriff’s Department checked generators late this week, emergency management officials began preparations to relocate their office to the Emergency Operations Center in the Wharton County Jail. The jail is one of the sturdiest buildings in the area. “Right now the whole Texas coast is under threat,” said Andy Kirkland, the county’s emergency management coordinator, on Friday. Hurricane Dean was expected to be just south of the Dominican Republic by this evening. The storm was moving west at 21 miles per hour on Friday and was projected to stay on that course, heading into the Gulf. Sustained winds of 105 miles per hour were recorded as Dean became a Category 2 storm. It was expected to intensify and become a major hurricane today. The National Hurricane Center in Miami, Fla., reported on Friday that, “Dean could become a very dangerous hurricane when it reaches the western Caribbean where the ocean heat content is the highest.” As the hurricane continues in a west-northwest direction, it will likely enter the Gulf of Mexico early next week “as a stronger hurricane than indicated in the original forecast,” according to the NHC. Kirkland said Friday that “the possible area of landfall still includes the entire Texas Coast.” The hurricane is forecast to hit Thursday. A forecast this far out can be hit or miss, however. There’s still several days in which the hurricane could turn to the north or south, though current weather patterns have forecasters believing it will continue on its westward route. “We’re preparing as if it’s not going to (change course),” Kirkland said. The speed of the storm has required area officials to expedite their emergency planning. Kirkland urged area residents to do the same. “This one isn’t the one you’d have 10 days to get ready for, unfortunately,” he said. Kirkland said Friday that the state was already moving fuel to coastal areas, and he said area residents need to follow that example by filling up their cars this weekend in case evacuation becomes necessary. “Do that now,” he said. If the hurricane remains on course, County Judge John Murrile said only a “skeleton” crew would likely remain on duty to look after county facilities. He said the focus will remain on getting employees to safety — and then having them return as quickly as possible to begin the clean-up. “You want your employees and their families to get out of the way of it because we want them to be able to come back,” Murrile said. Final details were being completed Friday on a contract with a storm debris clean-up firm, he added. Both county commissioners and the Wharton City Council this past Monday approved moving forward with hiring Ashbritt, a Florida-based company that specializes in disposing of limbs and other debris following a natural disaster (see related story). Murrile said some last minute fine tuning on county’s contract with Ashbritt was being completed Friday. “I think we’re pretty much prepared,” he said.

seems like the current "consensus" amongst the storm pathers, is that our area is pretty much out of the danger area... I think not, I fear they underestimate the diabolical dedication of Bush and Cheney to kill dark skinned people (even swarthy Mediterranian and some Nordic types with deep tans) with their secret devices that control all facets of violent weather, earthquakes, volcanoes, and tsunami's... Search the internet and you'll find this is true...

yippee, that video reminds me of a story that a friend told me..they were living in Refugio about 4 years ago, and had the trash cans full of partially drank beer after a large party from 2 days earlier.
When they heard the trash truck go by they looked out to make sure that all was picked up.
*****They watched a guy grab some of the partially 'drank' beers and guzzle them....True story.
Yuk!!!!

Phew! Looks like we're out of Dean's line of fire for sure now! There is talk about another that's forming that will go across Florida and into the gulf, ala Rita style...

I heard the number one selling item in Mexico is a sign saying: "¿Dónde está Feema?"
second is the sign saying: "¡Boosh Deed Deese to Hus!"
