Just Curious! What diet plan, program or technique do you use to lose or keep the weight off?Do you count calories, fat grams, chlorestrol? Are you a follower of the Atkins or South Beach diet? Or is the nutri-system method of glycemic-loads your method? How do you measure your progress in dieting? Are you a weight scale fanatic? How often do you weigh yourself? Or do you consider the Body Mass Index to be a more reliable form of judging weight loss? Do you swear off meats? Go vegan? Avoid sugar totally? Is fasting a part of your regiment? How about starvation with the aid of prescribed or over-the-counter chemicals that trick your mind into believing you're full? What? Have you tried or considered medical methods such as stomach stapling or adjustable esophagus constriction bands? What about liposuction? Other extreme methods? How often do you exercise? Does the bulk of that exercise come from your daily chores or is it more attuned to the physical demands of your job or rearing of your kids? What sports do you pursue to help shed the pounds? Are you a gym-junkie, who tends to workout in a physical exertion or conditioning center or are you a slave to some kind of exercise apparatus (treadmill, stationary bike, bowflex, etc)? Some people take laps around the school track to improve cardio-vascular conditions. Are you one of those? Do you just walk the normal pace? Or are you into fast walking? Into the heel-toe or toe-heel method? Is trotting around the neighborhood more your style? Or walking in soft sand? Do you weight ankle weights or carry weights when you walk, trot or run? How about bicycling? Leisure rides with the whole family in the afternoon or sprints intermixed with steady pedaling like Lance Armstrong? Is swimming a major method for exercise in the summer? Do you mostly swim at a pool or is surf, salpieer or freshwater habitats your choice. Are you a crawl swimmer, backstroker, breaststroker, butterfly swimmer or is the dog-paddle and sidestroke your desired approach? How you take off & keep the weight off is probably as important as what you eat. So, enlighten us!I haven't found a diet plan that's really worth a flip, which means I'm a watch what i eat kind of guy, with a lot of exercise. Every morning, I do stretching exercises & jog 2-miles with a water-blivet backpack filled with sand - great for cardiovasculars & upper body strength building (an exercise I began back in my college ROTC days before enlistment) and which I have continued. Beyond that, whatever I'm doing around house, homestead and job is pretty much it, tho I like swimming and walking is soft sand when I made jaunts to the beach; walking on sandbars along the Colorado is nice to but swimming in the river is not particularly sanitary in some place like it was years ago (too many sewage treatment plants along its course).

I lost 36 lbs reasonably quick just by cutting out all the good stuff I'd been eating. Made oatmeal a regular breakfast, added more fibre and fresh fruits and veggies. Followed rather loosely the 2000 calorie guidelines, usually doing only half the sat fat and cholesterol recommended. I've gained back about 15 lbs since I quit smoking, but I am willing to make the trade for now. Am finally doing exercise, moving very very slow as directed by my physician and dietitian. I'm up to 7 or 8 miles a day on my stationary bike, my goal is to increase to 500 to 1,000 miles a day.... .....well just keep adding on more, really.. add a coupla miles a day every few weeks or so...

i don't know- my speed depends on the rhythm of the music i have going at the time. sometime i'm pumping fast then sometimes not..... i'm sure the thing shows the speed - but i don't know how to read it.

my speedometer\odometer quit working awhile back, I estimate an easy steady pace at 15 mph, and next highest pace at 20. so to maintain 15 mph 1 mile should take 4 mins at the slow pace. I just go in 4 minute spurts right now.. will eventually link them up when stamina improves.. (I'm going slow right now)

I need to eat better than I do but I work out 2 times a day for an hour, weights in the morning and heavy and speed bag in the evening, martial arts help you keep in shape. I weighed about 210 forever but now no matter how much I work out I stay at 225. Now that spring-summer is almost here, I'll start running in the mornings before I take the kids to school.

i went thru Boling yesterday on way to Rosenberg (get tired of going same way always) & to check on the Buerger's Strawberry Patch (tween Iago & Burr). Was vehicle there but is place open?
Usually turnoff at Iago, bypass Boling and tie back into the Nerdville road (FM442) to avoid the 4-way stop but wanting a snack went to the the former Bulldog store ('cross from bank). It was under new mgmt; a camel-jockey running it when I stopped by. When did it stop being the Bulldog place?
Is that the coffee shop, you locals talk about? Patrons were there, drinking coffee & looks like they have some sort of order menu. Curious?

the guy that runs the bulldog - sure seems to be a nice person. i've eaten there several times and it's pretty good. it's not the "unofficial" coffee shop of boling tho...that belongs to the shell station.
btw the strawberry patch has been open!!!

I had a bad weekend/diet wise. Friday we went to see Pat Green. Ate too much. Sat night at a wedding had three glasses of bubbly and then ate way too much. I need to make up for it this week on Spring Break.
