Looking at the Crimea and the tough talk by the US and our allies. 95% of the people there have voted that they want to belong to the Russian government and much of Eastern Ukraine feels the same. So - the US is pushing for a civil war by putting economic sanctions on Russia and ignoring the demands of the people there. I always thought that the ballot box was much more desirable than war but evidently the US doesn't think so. After all, the 13 colonies wanted freedom from England and we had to have the revolutionary war to achieve that goal. Wouldn't it have been better to take and vote and abide by that decision?
Obama and Kerry don't believe in the vote and want hard sanctions against every Russian businessman and the Russian economy. We are still talking about democracy in countries under dictatorships yet when some people vote for their desire - we say they don't really know what they want. If these people want to belong to Russia - let them! Is it worth the price of another cold war with Russia or worse - a fighting war?
