Takes more than one good pitcher and the Astros just don't have the talent to win. Cheap? They didn't spend much to improve the team over the winter. If the fans quit going then the owner will have to spend and buy in order to make fans return and spend money.

In the B.C. comics once, the news reporter asked the coach about his team's execution and the coach replied, "I'm all for it!"

The Astros NEVER (or McClane) never spends money on good players. Like i say he is happy with the attendance for games, so why spend more. I am a big astros fan and so is my husband. He refuses to go a game and spend the money until McClane spends money.(He goes when I tell him I really want to go...especially when Prince Albert is playing) 0-6 at least their consistent.

They had their little spurt but past week its been lose, lose, lose, lose. All of which puts them in the Central Div cellar and National Leagure cellar with Los Angeles. Future is anybody's guess but while theres still lots of baseball games to play, some of us are starting to look ahead to next year or to pro-football, whichever comes first..!!

Whoda thunk it..?? The Ace pitcher of the the worst team in MLB (Roy Oswalt) is so PO'd with the team, after his threat to sue the other players for not giving him any run support, he has asked the Team Owner & Gen Mgr to trade him. Will the Houston ball club find the bottom during the season or will a new owner buy up the franchise and help turn what has been a downward spiral since they made it to the '05 World Series and hired Ed Wade -- the guy who brought down the Phillies until that team got smart enogh to get rid of him..??

see Kaz Matsui cleared waivers -- meaning nobody wanted him. Now he's a free agent. Expect Stros to pull same with Carlos Lee (in final year of 6 yr deal) and prehaps Oswalt, who still is a good pitcher and will most likely be claimed by another team.

Oswalt is a pitcher in his prime... look for him to go to one of the second tier contenders... Padres, Giants, Cardinals, Braves or perhaps one of the American League teams like the Angels, Sox (either pair) or the like... who need a proven starter and won't hog the limelight and create a problem in the clubhouse...

Yor sur rite about that Rev. Leave it to the Astros to get rid or lose the good pitchers, past & present, having to resort to second raters and hasbeens. Lidge had his problems that time changed but the team owner & mgr didn't give the time for him to work thru them. Look what Lidge has done since he went to Philly. The had a reliable pitcher in Nolan Ryan even after he'd been exploited by Boston/NYY but didn't want to pay the kind of money he wanted; he left for the Texas Rangers and continued to win. They did the same thing with Clemens and with the guy from Deer Park (name escapes me). And there were others. Astros made it to world series on a fluke becose their a second rate ballclub. Why some the good players stayed as long as they did is curiousity; more about the city, area & region than about the Houston ballteam.
DMcClane has the team up for sale. Even with the nice park taxpayers paid for, if sold the team needs to go someplace else. Eventually the Fourth Largest City in nation will get another baseball team & like what its become since NFL Texans filled the void left by departing Bud Adam's Oilers, the city would do better.
