hi yall we have hi speed internet with grande communications and we use a motorolla surfboard sb5100 modem. I am having a helluva time getting it to give a signal to my wireless router. I have two different routers and always the same issue. no connectivity at the router. but if i plug the modem into my computer it works just fine no issues or if i plug it into the router and then into my computer it works however no wireless. My computer reads the router and picks it up but when it connects it says no connectivity. Please help someone !

I will just say how mine is set up. I have cable internet and the cable runs into a Motorola 5101 modem. From here it runs to a Linksys router and from the router to this computer. This works for me as I use the Lap top thru it
I'm trying to remember if there was a routine to go thru to set up the wireless router but it's been too long ago. I do not think there was. I just added the router by plugging the modem into it instead of the computer then ran a line from the router to the computer

I wish I could help but there are several situations that could be causing it to not connect. I've got two Vista computers and two XP computers and all four work with our password protected wireless setup. The Vista machines needed to be setup with the password as well as the XP machines but the setup was different.
Without a password set I know with an older Linksys router should jsut be plug and play.
