Sure looks like the GM is active in the free agent market but signing Ole Lefty is a bit of a stretch. He has been injured so much in the past five years that he has a red cross on the back of his jersey.
Who else is next?
Hampton is in and Loretta is gone to the Dodgers. He was a good bench player. Astros are shopping Tejada, Wiggington and Pence from what I hear for another shortstop or front line pitcher. I would hate to see Pence leave.

Only 2 and a half more weeks for the season to start. Can hardly wait. I guess we will just have to wait and see how it goes.

If anyone can be out of the penant race by May 1 - it's the Astros.

My husband agrees. But remember they come back in the second half of the season. He hates the way I watch them all the time just to be disappointed.

i'm glad it's opening day. i don't think they'll be very good, but i'll still watch them.
it's kinda my daily routine....sleep, eat, work, astros, (repeat)....
i'll probably have to do alot of remote flipping tonight between the basketball championship and the astros.
btw...i'm picking North Carolina to win it all.

Been on vacation all last week... have to go back at 3 tomorrow morning so won't get a chance to watch them. Grrrrrrr. Will turn on the replay when I get up or check my postgame alert email. We wish them luck all season long. Maybe the pitching won't be too bas. Heard yesterday that Wandy (on baseball fantasy) could win the Cy Young award. (if he pitches on the road like he does at home) Mais if.

2005, they went to world series tho lost in 4 games. since then team has fired a coach, a player manager, spent beaucoup bucks on has been players, failed to meet salaries for petitte and clemens, traded away all its future players and established a lousy farm club system.
one word sums up their prospects in 2009 and long time future: CRAP

not once during the entire 2009 season has the houston club had a winning record, but 4 times this season the 'stroes have been 1 game from evenning its win-loss record, that they achieved in season game no. 2.
with 5 games in next 4 days against the nat. league worst team -- the washington nationals, including a makeup game for the may 5, 10-10 suspended game, doubleheader today, the astros could coneivable climb above .500 and move closer to central division lead (now only 3.5 games ahead)
