It looked so good a couple of weeks ago and now? This horse may not even finish the race. Bench some starters? Maybe but let's look at the beginning of the year. Towles was the Johnny Bench of the future. Bourne was the Willie Mays of tomorrow. Wiggington was Brooks Robinson re-born. All three have flopped! If you only play with eight bats and you take away three - how are you going to compete with only five hitters? Pitching? Oswalt is having a bad year and every great pitcher has had those - some more than one. Backe was a question mark as well as Wandy - both coming back from surgery. The rest were considered as second rate pitchers on their best days and some should have stayed in the minors. Remember Jennings and Woody Wiliams? Never should have been signed. Cooper leaves some doubt as well. Using Berkman and Wiggington to attempt steals against a 8-time allstar catcher? Posada had target practice even with Bourne trying to steal. There are many holes in the team and benching two or three players and firing one or two coaches won't help but put the excuses on them. Trades? Too soon to speculate but rumor has Pence as bait for a top quality pitcher. I don't think it's good to lose Pence but I don't have 200 million to buy the team and do it my way.

Forgot about Ausmus - steady and durable but getting "long in the tooth" as they say. Quinones is not the answer and maybe no even Towles. The top Astro draft choice - Castro - could be the future.

Talk about stupid! Chacon grabbs GM by the neck and throws him down. I hear that he has been suspended and is no longer on the team. He was earning about 2 mil a year and guess he just lost about 1/2 of that for his temper. I would like to see them send him back to Puerto Rico or where ever he's from. No room for that crap in baseball.
