I've never been giggin' for flounder. It sounds fun. Heck, I rarely get to wet my pole now. I need to go fishing more often.

Water's a bit murky for gigging this time of the year (that's best in Spring or early Fall) but cold water is driving some of the big "saddle blanket" Bothidea Family flounders into deeper holes of bays.
Some friends went pole-fishin over NewYear's weekend to East Matagorda Bay, drove in from the beachside to Boiler Bayou and had a field day. They brought me one huge flatfish (for telling 'em where to go). It filled a large platter (had to remove head to get it in the oven).

so did you get any flounder ogeezer? Not on my last fishing trip. Was out of the country when the flounder run was going on. Soon as it warms up and the flatfish head for the shallows, I plan on hauling out my lantern & gig 'n going after 'em.
