Theres a good site in Matagorda for info, tho its heavy on ad space of comm'l interests. Got good pictures from live camera. And other useful stuff. I don't know website as I seem to have deleted it when doing some bookmark Spring cleaning ... googling a search will get there eventually ... maybe somebody else here has it

there are lots of cameras to show crowds and water conditions all over the state. I recently noticed a camera and website off of the guadalupe river in gruene, i mooned the camera (not really) but i am sure there are all kinds of cam's out there if you search hard enough. But remember if you see something thats blindingly white and in a tube, make sure it wasn't me flipped over letting the world see my better side!

i'm reading a book now that is called Life On Matagorda Island...it's some biologist who lived down there with his wife - sort of a diary of his life on the island. some of it is pretty interesting and some of it is way to much like biology class - but never the less - pretty interesting. as i can gather from the book, you can take a tour of the island and he shows you all kinds of biology type stuff. i've learned alot.

While down there near Port O'Connor, a drive down to the Nat'l Wildlife Refuge outside Austwell would would be a topper for a weekend outing
Fish (Reds, Specks, Flouders) have been biting off Oyster Lake bridge on live shrimp for last couple of weeks ... White Shrimp moving from estuaries into bays and out in Gulf are main reason (coinciding offshore shrimp season) ... come mid August (plus/minus) Brown Shrimp will begin their migration to the sea which is why shrimp season in bays opens August 15th ... GOOD LUCK
