The EC city council voted 5-1 to put the matter of the Jail - fire station combination (cost $8.5 million) up to the voters for approval in May. This is a wonderful idea. They said that they would have to educate the voters on the need for the building. Sounds like the council thinks the votes are dumb.
Lets think about it. We build a $8.5 million structure and put it within 200 yards of the west city limits? Then we spend $1.5 million to make the old structure capable of holding the city maintenance, city power and other city business. If it can be repaired for only $1.5 million - why build the Snyder Palace? We are already planning to add access roads, freeway overpasses, Prasek exit ramps and do more needed street work to drain what money we have in the bank. Enough is enough for a couple of years - let us re-coop thru taxes without having a large bond to pay for.

Why educate the voters, lets just take and vote and if it doesn't pass just build it anyway, it worked for the new ball park. The school might even have a few more millions laying around they don't need.
