According to the EC Leader News, our city manager has pledged $8 million for the future work on Hwy 59 or I-69. They will build access roads from 71 to the Rice Belt Overpass. Why? They will also construct ramps and access to Prasek's Smokehouse. Why? The Prasek property is not even in the EL Campo city limits or school taxing area so who benefits? Prasek is not paying so why do we have to pay for the improvement of his business? I would like Snyder to explain to us why she feels that the EC taxpayer needs to build this for the Prasek family? This is not necessary since most people going to this business will go regardless of problem access.
Also included is tearing down the 1162 overpass and building hwy 59 over FM 1162. This is being done because two farmers are saying that the overpass is not wide enough for some equipment. Why do we have to accommodate these farmers and the Prasek family? Are they going to help me pay my taxes? I understand that there will be a petition circulated requesting that these projects be voted on by the citizens. If our tax money is going to benefit private citizens, then all citizens have the right to approve it.

The vote will do as much good as the one they had for the new ball park they are building.
