I see that the city has received a request from the state for a committment of $17 million for El Campo's share of the cost of the I-69 upgrade. WOW! I understand that this is only for the feeder lanes that will have commercial implications. The whole cost for this section if like $39 million. They don't want the money right now but a promise good for the next 5-7 years. Folks, we better get ready for some property and sales tax increases now. As usual both the state and city plan to use future taxes from new industry to pay for this project. How come the bank won't let me buy a Rolls Royce based on my future earnings as a politician? Duh!
If I'm not mistaken - the cost for the Prasek exit/entrance construction is included in our portion of the bill. It still rankles me how El Campo can spend money to build something that is not in the city limits or really any of our responsibility. Mustang Creek BBQ deserves a better access for traffic as does Prasek.
I buy from Prasek but I don't feel the need to increase my taxes so they can make more money and suffer no tax increase. I'm just anti-government and anti-tax increase.

How about we just use the drug money that is recovered since I-69 will increase the amount of drug traffic.
