Another person has been killed trying to cross-over at Prasek's and another is in critical condition. The older couple didn't see the truck coming at them at 75 mph. Sad tale but repeated.
The state hwy. department closed the crossover at the extension of the loop at the Mexican restaurant and grocery store just a couple of miles down the road but will never close this death trap because of the people who depended on it - Prasek.
The city of EC is still planning to pay for an exit ramp at that location and I just can't support it even if it saves lives. Prasek doesn't pay any sales or city taxes so it isn't beneficial to El Campo. It is just political!

Wonder how many of their employees pay taxes and spend a considerable amount of money in El Campo and Louise? You're off target on this one!

I don't think so. Having to pay between $800 to $1.2 mil. is not to be taken lightly. Besides, you seem to think that Prasek would close if they didn't get the overpass. It won't bring them more money or less for the employees. The only reason that the THD won;t do the job themselves is that they consider it unnecessary. Wharton doesn't have to pay for the new bridge because it is necessary. this overpass is a frill
Somehow politicans want to build things and most are unnecessary. We voted down the idea of a new little league baseball park but the politicans have found a new route to fool the taxpayer. Well, the taxpayer will still have to pay and they didn't want too.
