My neighbor took his information to the tax preparer and during the interview he was asked the Obama question?
"Do you presently have insurance?"
He was told that he must buy his own insurance during 2013 and if not - he would be subject to a penalty tax and then he would still have to get the insurance for the next year as his penalty would go up.
I did not see that question on my 1040 as I do my own taxes but has anyone heard that this for real or not? I have tried to get insurance but with my medical history - no chance. I guess I will be put on the Obama death list as "do not resusitate."

We are still waiting on some paperwork before we send ours to the accountant. No questions yet for us but it'll be interesting if they come up.

A pox on insurance companys. Just found out my insurance where I pay $271.00 same for wife which is $542.00 per month or $6,504.00 per year they do not pay for nursing home charges which will cost me $4,800.00 per month out of pocket while wife is in nursing home. I was using the V.A. hospital in Houston but they just put me in catagory 8 from catagory 5 and charges me $50.00 per doctors visit because I have a couple of CD certificates earning .25 percent interest. They did the same with my old 94 year old ww2 buddy and he is wondering if maybe he fought for the wrong side. Oh well, vent and pregnant dog is all we can do nowdays.

I've always been a cat 8C but I don't remember the doc visits being that much. I go to the Richmond clinic now and only go twice a year for the blood sucking. Prescriptions are 9 bucks I think. I don't think you should blame the insurance company, unless you bought long term care insurance and then they didn't pay. Health insurance and long term care insurance are two different things. And $4,800.00 per month for a nursing home is a little out of reality isn't it. Heck, the Taj Mahal of nursing homes, Colonial Bell in Sealy, is somewhere in the $2,000.00 a month as I recall. The trick to all of that is to get sick about every 110 days, go to the hospital and then get released back to the nursing home. That way Medicare covers just about all of it. Or so I'm told.
