well - all i've ever seen in groc store is sliced american cheese. i need a chunk of it what recipe would call for a block of american cheese unsliced?? are you needing to grate it or something or make cubes? American cheese is a blend of Colby and Cheddar. Velveeta is a blend of Colby, Swiss and Cheddar.if you cant find a block, you could buy the large packs at wal-mart (its the 72 slice pks, but heb doesnt sell them), cut into sections that would fit into a food processor, freeze it then put it into the food processor to grate it. that is if that is your intention.. not sure when you need it by, but where i go shopping they do sell it by the block unsliced.. (if my memory serves me correct)
