Went shopping yesterday ... Got Bread Making Materials (all but the Vital Wheat Gluten)... now I want to calculate the cost of this one loaf of Italian (EYE-tallion) Bread. Water 9 ounces Olive Oil 1.5 TBS -4.69 for 17 ounce Bottle Sugar .75 TBS Salt 1.25 tsp Bread Machine Flour 3 Cups -2.89 for 5 lbs. Active Dry Yeast 2 tsp -3.19 for 4 ounce Jar
How much did this loaf cost me to make?

You did not give the cost of the sugar but just rough figuring....it cost you aprox. $1.20-$1.25 to make.

thanks. I think of the sugar and salt as being practically free considering the volume I get for the price. I calc'd $1.22 the first time and $1.44 the second.. that's when I decided to ask for help.. Yeast is a dry weight, and the jar label has the actual weight, not by volume as in fluid ounces. Before I started the Calculation, I was betting it wouldn't be over 60 or maybe 80 cents.. I'm still saving money on the Whole Wheats and the Ryes compared to Store prices.. plus I get to have control of the calories and such.. my next experiment will be a Pumpernickel.. Heck .. I might even go crazy and make some kolaches Bread Machine Kolaches
