Went to the Dr's yesterday, follow up on last week's Lab, had fantastic news! Triglycerides were in the safe range, Good Cholesterol was just right and the Bad Cholesterol was low. Sugar was good... I've been fighting the Cholesterol Triglyceride battle for about 8 years and now I'm winning.. Here's the difference.. In August, my new Dr. put me on Niacin (Niaspam-Vitamin B3) 1500 mg's a day, one 250 mg Vitamin D, 20 mg Simvastatin... I was told to increase my Vitamin D intake, which I did whole heartedly. I"m thinking that combo made the diff... Vitamin D increase includes one Weight Watcher's Ice Cream Sandwich, Hunt's Snack Pack No Fat Pudding, Yoplait Yogurt (1%) 1 or 2 a day, 1 1% Milk or Buttermilk each day, Ensure or Opti-Meal for a late snack or dessert.. Sharing this in case you're having the same problem I had... my dosages of Med's will be reduced if I can maintain these readings.. Google and research the benefits of Vitamin's D and B3... and of course High Fiber (I haven't been exercising very much... dumbell workout when I think about it... I gained 2 lbs and still had good readings)

That's great news, DD! I have always had trouble in trying to get my bad cholesterol down. It's always been high. Dr. switched me to a "cheaper" cholesterol medicine. I was on lipitor but could not afford it after hubby got laid off. Dr. said the difference is like switching from a big diesel engine to a regular gas engine. I dread to see my next lab readings.
