I was wondering if a laptop computer can be used as a TV receiver. I know you can get some TV programs if you are connected to the internet but after all channels went digital I was wondering if there was a set up that plugged into a USB connections and picked up local channels out of the air without the internet connection
I do not see were it would be that much of a problem but I'm NO Expert.

Thanks for the info. They have some laptop tuners on ebay but I'm not sure how well these things will work. Sure like to see one in action before I bought it. I know down here in EC it wouldn't be good but I spend lots of time in and near big cities. Our camping area out in the hill country in about 30-40 miles out of SA but the hills most likely will kill the signal there.

If you can Philips has a hd antenna that is easily be moved and stored. The Hauppauge is one of the better rated cards and companies to do business with. I have this antenna and live in a very hilly area with the nearest broadcast towers an average of 55-70 miles away. I can pull in most of the channels with no issues at all with good tuning. You should note that it is a UHF only antenna and anything on the VHF band might not get picked up post digital transition. I've seen this antenna at our area Wal-Marts.
