Do any of you do any of the yarn crafts such as knitting, crocheting, looming, etc?
What is your favorite brand of yarn? Needles? Accessories?
Where do you buy your supplies, or do you just take what Walmart decides is worthy of their shelf space?
What brick & mortar store do you frequent for your supplies?
What online stores do you use for them?
Is there a yarn store closer to Wharton than the Hobby Lobby in Rosenberg?
Thanks!

I crochet a little bit and get what I can at Walmart .. just found one brand that they carry that is a recycled brand. Try to get some while they still have it!

Are you talking about the Caron Simply Soft Eco? I grabbed some of that...I'm working on a knitted triangle prayer shawl. I'm using the light purple/lavender color (I can't remember its 'official' color name). I also got some of the green...not sure yet what I'll do with that color.
If there were another place close by to get yarn, would you shop at it? Or do you think you'd be loyal to Walmart?
I like Hobby Lobby, but I don't like driving 20+ miles to Rosenberg/Richmond to get to it. I wish they'd build one here in Wharton. There's also one along Hwy 6 with a humongous yarn department...drool worthy haha

I have another question....if you were in the market to learn how to knit or crochet, what do you think would be a reasonable price for an hour long basic class: A. supplies included and B. you bring your own supplies?

My wife does a heap of that stuff. It's an old country thing. Her grandmother taught her everything she knows. Usually she gets what whatever store we are in has to offer in regards to supplies. I haven't seen that she has a favorite at least. She uses needles from Czech that her grandmother had when she was a child.

How wonderful that she has her grandma's needles...what a precious heirloom. I lost all of my grandma's things when our storage building was destroyed What is your wife's favorite thing to knit? Does she do lots of baby things, or lean more towards "regular people" items? I've done baby items the most, but am trying to expand my skills and am trying some adult sized things these days.

If there were somewhere local .. IE .. Wharton County .. more especially for me El Campo .. I would shop there .. not a Walmart fan .. As for classes .. Heck yes .. I would do my best to make time ... not sure about the cost .. I have seen classes in Houston from 35-100.00 .. so I guess it would just depend on what was being taught.

I'm not a Walmart fan either. They run everybody out of business, and then they don't sell the good stuff either. I wish that we could get a decent place here in the county...somewhere between the cities of Wharton and El Campo would be just about perfect, I think.
I'll PM you with the rest of what I'm thinking, so I don't break any posting rules that I might be forgetting.
