What is your experience with pneumonia? Hubby has it really bad..one lung is almost completely white. The pain seems to be unbearable.

I have had it 3 times, it isnt fun! Hope he is under a doctors care, when I do get it a shot of roceffin(sp), an inhaler, cough pills, and and antibiotic usually do the trick. Lots of rest and liquids and a long time to get back to himself. I feel for him having it that bad. He is probably close to being hospitilized isnt he?

He has been on antibiotic for 5 days now. The doctor said I was doing everything the hospital could do really. He has the albuterol in the breathing machine which helps with the wheezing. He has pain meds and muscle relaxers...which help him sleep...which he really needs... He said to watch for shortness of breath...that is when he needs to go in to the hospital. He went to ER Tuesday and didn't admit him. They said he was already taking all the meds and doing what they would do and sent him home. The pain medicine is causing severe constipation which is I am sure causing some of the abdominal and back pain. It looks like it is going to be a long road to recovery.

I got pneumonia for the first time about 2 yrs. ago. I was having shortness of breath (actually gasping for air) and it scared the dickens out of me. I called the clinic and they told me to come in right away. They immediately put me on the breathing machine (with albuterol). They said if I had waited any longer I would have been admitted in the hospital. I was given a shot, put on antibiotics and a albuterol inhaler. Gosh, I never felt so bad in my life. It does take a good while to get over pneumonia. I hope your husband gets to feeling better soon, treetop!

I found an egg-crate mattress pad really helped the pain. It takes a long time for the soreness to go away even after all the other symptoms are gone.

Just an update....in treating the pneumonia...they found lung cancer that has spread to the spine and ribs. Life can really change in a heartbeat. Could use a few prayers this way

Thank you all so much...not much to say right now....just waiting to talk to the cancer doctor to see what treatment is available. I appreciate the support so much. Even though we are 1600 miles away from El Campo....it has always been my home.
