just curious if anyone here has experience with using ubuntu as an alternative OS to Windows. I hate Windows Vista and have been told that ubuntu is just as easy to use and provides a more stable platform.

Since most the Linux downloads are free, it does not hurt to try more than one. You do not have to install them, you can run them from the CD just to check them out and see which ones you like. I've heard good things about Knopix and Ubuntu, but I think PC Linux is easier for a Windows user to adapt too and its a good program in itself.

Realizing this is an older post.....yes, I've run ubuntu for several years now. Works wonderfully. I've currently got it on an HP omnibook and can do everything with it I can do on my windows boxes (even wireless internet)! Drop me a line if you would like further info.
