here's the upside.. tomorrow the Cern Accelerator will fire up to smash some atoms and try to recreate the particles created during the "Big Bang", the Creation of this Universe, and some people believe it will cause a black hole and we'll all be sucked into the event horison.. sucked into billions of pieces of matter and deposited in another universe with a completely different rule of physics... so don't sweat the hurricane..

WE spent a lot of dollars to get it rolling and someone stopped it along with a lot of jobs.....I had technical people who agreed with it being obselete but maybe they were miss informed..

Don't have a map..but I know from my buddies experience stay off of highway 90 at altair (I-10 was worse to s.a..)....he was at grid lock last time...if from ec take 1300 by the country club to speaks and work your way up haleetsville then shiner then gonzales...There are a lot of back roads...Just as long as the goverment decides not to close em

From what I heard...They are closing the inbound lanes on HWY 77 tomorrow. All lanes will be outbound.

Quick thought - if the storm is to the west of EC you will want to go north and east to avoid the people coming up from the coast on I-35 and 183. If you head west - take 1300 to Hallettsville and then over to Shiner (avoid 77 North) In Shiner you can take a good road north to Flatonia and then LaGrange and Giddings. Or you can head further west to Gonzales on 90A but you will hit 183 in Gonzales and it will be busy. On the loop around Gonzales you will find a sign for Bastrop on a back road. It will take you to Austin or Lockhart with some time. All the back roads there are good and should not be closed.

What happended? I slept through the dang thing! I walked outside this morning and it looks like it was pretty much a non-event for EC. I check the local weather site and it said the max gust was only 44mph and we only got 0.62 inches of rain. Good for us, but my thoughts are still with the folks in the Houston/Galveston area.

Yeah, I slept pretty good too. Not too much to worry about if you are prepared and it seemed that EC was...

Well, things don't sound good in Galveston. I heard the Balinese Room, Murdoch's Gifts, Hooter's, and the fishing piers are all GONE. They are just rubble on the Seawall now. Galveston is a place that I have very fond memories of vacations. I'm sad.
