You're right! The trip was great and I didn't have a big setback, so that's definitely a plus!

I'm still plugging away...65.2 pounds off and only 14.8 pounds to go to reach my goal! Yay! Of course it may take me another year to get there

Good Show! Never give up... expect setbacks, but never never give up!
(by the way, speaking of Weight Watchers, I've started eating WW's Ice Cream Sandwiches, I have one a day.... don't know what that's doing to my diet, but I do know it's helping me on my increased vitamin D download)

When I told my daughter that I now weigh more than I ever have she recommended weight watchers. She successfully lost her post-pregnancy weight almost 2 years ago using their program. I can't go to a meeting anywhere around here - they just don't fit my schedule - and have been unsuccessful using the online program. So the next day she sent me an email with all the meeting sites and times within an hour's drive. She lives in Sugar Land and we're going to go to meetings together on Saturdays in Missouri City. Went to our first meeting yesterday. I have a lot to lose while she's trying to get from size 6/8 back down size 4/6. Fine with me - she's an awesome encourager and I get the side benefit of special time with her. I'm excited and cautiously optimistic. She may just be doing this to help out dear old Mom, but I'll take it! Wish me luck! (Puprisam - your posts give me courage!)

Congrats, Louise, on getting started! It's a wonderful program. There is nothing that you deny yourself, you just have to plan for it. It's also a great plus for you to start this program with your daughter. I agree about the online program...for me, it just didn't work. I need the accountability of weighing in each week. I also agree that going to weekly meetings is crucial for success. I have learned soooo much during these meetings and the support you get from the group leader and the other members is extremely important. This may sound so "elementary school", but I look forward to getting my star for losing another 5 pounds and putting it on my bookmark!!! The other thing that I love is that no one is judgemental. If you gain weight...the mantra is .....begin again!!! I know that I can do that. I hope your meetings are good ones. If not, come on down to Katy and join us! We have a great group leader on Saturdays and three meeting times...7:30 am... 9:00 am and 10:30 am. We laugh a lot and get a lot of good information. I have hit another plateau...I've had no gain/no loss for the last two weeks and I think this week may be a gain. But I recently found out that my thyroid isn't functioning, so I'll start medication for that and hopefully will get back on track. Just stick with it, Louise. It's a slow weight loss, but it does work!!! We need to keep posting to keep each other on track!
SRV Child, I'm going to try to post some pics on a site like Flicker or one like it. I'll let you know when I get it done. I do have lots of wonderful pics from the trip!! Thanks for asking!!

Weight watchers update: In 5 weeks I have lost 8.8 pounds. Not setting the world on fire, but better than going the other direction. My daughter and i are going to meetings off Hwy 6 and we've missed 2 meetings in those 5 weeks - sometimes we just can't get there on a Saturday. It helps so much that she's going with me. Found out that's she's only 8 pounds from her goal weight to start with so ... though she is concentrating on healthy she's mainly helping out dear old Mom. I'll take it!

8.8 pounds in 5 weeks is actually good! Slow is MUCH better than losing it fast. Plus you get the additional benefit of spending time with your daughter! I still have 15 pounds to go for my goal weight and it's going VERY slowly...but I'm also not being as good as I should be. At least I'm not gaining and I know what I am doing wrong....now I just need to get myself in gear and do what I know I need to do to lose the weight. Stick with it and get to as many meetings as you can. I know you're going to make it!!! Keep us posted and good luck!

After 6 weeks I've lost 12.4 pounds. I got my second 5 pound sticker AND a 5% sticker. Whoohoo!
Even better since I'm a diabetic my insulin use is down and my blood sugar levels are much more stable. Double Whoohoo!
There's a lot of work ahead on this, but ... I got told back my words when I've given my kids advice. I've always told them that in another year they'll be one year older. They can be one year older with ... (fill in the blank) a degree finished (when one wanted to quit), a house bought (when they couldn't decide whether to keep renting or buy) or they can be one year older with exactly what they have now.... so my daughter says ... Okay, Mom, in another year you'll be a year older. You can be a year older, but healthier, or you can keep walking the road you're on.
I LOVE it when you can tell one of those kids listened!

I LOVE the quote...and congrats Louise!!! Don't you just love getting those stars AND you also got a 5% sticker! Congrats! You have to try the potato soup that I've posted --1 point per cup...and the taco soup--3 points per cup. Both very filling. And try hungrygirl.com...they have some great ideas. Stay with it, girl...you're gonna make it. I had a gain this week, so I need to "start again" and see if I can get these last 15 pounds off!

Thanks for the kind words. I already printed out the potato soup recipe. Didn't see the taco soup one yet.
We're having trouble fitting in the meetings. Today we were running a garage sale and just ran over for the weigh ins. Last Saturday we were doing holiday pictures of my two grandboys and again just ran in for the weigh in. But I think of those meetings as secret weapons. I'm holding strong right now - when I need them more - they'll be there.

It's been a while, but I'm still plugging at it. Made a Weight Watcher landmark today by losing 10% of my starting weight. Gave up on the meetings in Missouri City - too hard to get there regularly - and going to the EC meetings on Tuesday nights. The meetings do help - being with people working at the same thing and having the accountability of a weigh in.
My daughter has reached her goal weight and is working on maintaining that. "Work" is the word. This is just plain old hard work!
