What is your choice in GYN doctors, man or woman? Why?

I prefer a woman GYN. My reason is same as from the movie, City of Angels; when baby doctor told Meg Ryan character, "no need for a man to know more about your va gina than you do."

Never had a woman GYN. When I started going for those exams, there weren't any females doing it.

I think I'd prefer a woman, except for the fact that the only time a woman did the exam on me, she hurt me. The men did, too, but they didn't hurt near as much as she did. She was also a smarty pants. When I said something about it hurting she said "this hurts a whole lot less than having a baby come out of there!" or something to that effect. Not the thing to say to someone that has never had a baby. That haunted me all during my first pregnancy. After I had him, I wanted to go back and slap her because it wasn't nearly as terrifying as she tried to imply. I can honestly say her examining me hurt far more than delivering that boy.
At this point in my life I don't go to either. They never truly listened anyway. I have quite a few things going on, but if you tell them more than one thing at a time, they think you're making it up and need to be on Prozac or something. They kind of can't fathom the idea of hey, maybe these things that are wrong together indicate a bigger problem that might actually need some attention.
They lost me for good when they told me that I wasn't pregnant and then I delivered a dead baby girl, my Dorian, at home.
Whatever's going on in me now, Heavenly Father and the coroner can sort out. I'll never go back.

I prefer a man GYN. I don't ever want any female doing it again, cuz the last time I went to that lady here, she bout killed me. None of the male doctors EVER hurt me like she did. I know women may be a little more thorough on the breast exam, but I never thought that skinny little thing could hurt me like that. When she did the breast exam, it felt like she was standing on me. THEN, she didn't like my tattoo and told me it was satanic all the while smiling while she was crushing my you-know-whats. I never thought a little Pegasus was satanic. And God himself knows I'm not into satanic stuff. It's a myth to me about the winged horses or unicorns. I used to love to watch the little unicorns in cartoons or on TV.
Anywhoski, then the "you need to lose weight" speech comes into effect. Duh, like I don't already know I'm fat. She told me "you need to do what I do". And I said, "OK, tell me what you do". And she replied, "I only eat once a day and I jog". Well, if I only ate once a day and jogged, I MIGHT be skinny like her, but I am hungry for more than just one meal. And who wants to see me jog. Trust me, it ain't pretty.
Then after she finished crushing what was left of my boobs, she goes "downtown" if you get my drift. That wasn't so bad, but when she finished there, she didn't warn me she was going to "enter the back door" if you know what I mean. I almost jumped off the table. And I said to her, "You might want to warn people when you do that. You might do that to a crazy woman and she *itch slaps you.
I never went back to her. Screw that.
If I want to experience excruciating pain like that, I'll go get a root canal without novocaine before I go back to her.
Be careful, ladies. Be VERY careful.
=)
PS. I'm not gonna name names, but it was not the pretty new black lady GYN that did it, either. My best friend LOVES her and said she is GREAT!
