Just found a variant to the "Antivirus XP 2008" in MySpace. You get a friend request and go to the persons profile to see if it's anyone you know. When the profile pulls up you get an authentic looking Microsoft Update image. As most normally, you click on it it'll ask to download a file in the named format similar to a Microsoft Update file. If you download it and run it your toast.
I caught it and realized what it was before anything happened. Be ye warned.

Oh thank you Great One! I wonder if that's what got me a while back? I'd like to find whoever creates these problems and beat the ykw out of them.

I'm not 100% certain other than it was a short haired female with a name that began with a Ch. I wish I thought to write it down now but I marked it as spam asap for them to handle.

Thanks SJ. I never accept invites from unknowns, but want to warn friends.

SJ thank you!!!! I bet this is where we picked up the virus too!! My kids are on my space a lot and I bet the younger one fell for this. They are usually very good about not opening pop ups and attachments so I couldn't figure out where they went to get the Antivirus XP 2008 bug. It's a BAD one!

My son got this also on his laptop Sunday...visists "my space" too. Only thing it was Antivirus 2009...a clone of the 2008 one. It kept popping up saying he had all these viruses, trojans and someone could hack into his computer. I already knew about it...thanks for the warning! I downloaded Malwarebytes, scanned the laptop and it removed not only that one but also the Antivirus 2008 which I didn't even know he had. Pretty simple to use!
