Joyful noises and all................I believe it says somewhere to make a joyful noise unto the Lord.........I didn't see where it said you have to be on key.
Oh well................

Well went again Sunday morning (to same church) and this lady could sing. It wasn't like a dang opera and she didn't drag the songs out to last forever. They need to tell this one to sing all the time if they have to have do singing

Heck no girl. I was in band for a reason. Guess that's why I don't like singing since I can't carry a tune well myself.

Over the past 30 or so years, I have played the organ for a few churches in the area. At one or two churches, the pastors leading the singing have sounded absolutely WRETCHED. The answer; remember that singing is making a joyful noise to the Lord...and occasionally draw out a couple of louder stops.

I agree with Crazydee. The Bible says to make a joyful noise, it doesn't say anything about perfect pitch, being on key, or having a beautiful voice, only that it be a joyful noise.
He's the One that the singing is for, not the rest of us.

There was one hymn they sang when I was very young.............
I allways thought the words were....."Gladly, a cross-eyed bear"

When I was a youth, sometimes the Pastor would announce the name of the next hymn and the page number, and there would be a muffled giggle by some of us 12-13 year old Sunday School cut-ups because someone said to add "Under the sheets" after hearing a hymn title..

The preacher once said that when I sing my voice fills the entire church. He said lots of people would get up and leave to make room for it.

Every once in a while, a gentleman visits the church where I play. He was a pastor of a local church a few years ago. When he sings, it is truly an uplifting experience. He has a powerful, energetic voice, and sings very well. The organ in my church is located in the balcony (where I hear almost all organ and very little congregational singing), but this man's voice comes through loud and clear - a real blessing for our church.
