My neighborhood watched a pair of birds nesting and nurturing two babies. The babies finally got out of the nest and were out walking around in the yard. We aren't sure what kind of birds they are but they brought a lot of joy to our neighborhood as we watched their little family grow.

it's a juvenile Yellow-crowned Night Heron -- generally unseen in this area for many years, it has made a comeback since the 1980s, and is quite common locally now. Any pics of the adults will confirm its identification to you if you'd refer to most Audubon bird books, or Roger Tory Petersen's Birds of Texas field guide, if you'd like to confirm my identification...

Thanks ogeezer. I knew someone on here would know what it is. I'll let my neighbors know. They are elderly and have really enjoyed sitting outside in their wheelchairs watching the birds' every move. It was interesting to watch such large birds in a nest so high up in the tree. One always stayed in the nest while the other went out for food.

Shortly after this photo was posted one showed up in back yard. It was there every day and I didn't think much of it till I noticed the gold fish in my pond started to disappear.

You betcha. The gold fish in the pond have been with me for a while. I finally moved the ones in the aquarium to the pond as they just wasn't making it in the aquarium.
I haven't seen the pesky bird the last few days
