Over the millinia, everyone from farmers to sailors has found way to read the weather. While we can't always guarantee they'll work, here are some old adages we hope will keep you safe and dry.
SIGNS OF GOOD WEATHER:
Red sky at night means that the next day will be clear.
A rainbow in the morning indicates clear skies for the rest of the day.
Birds flying high means good weather will continue throughout the day.
Wind blowing form the west is a sign of mild weather to come.
SIGNS OF BAD WEATHER:
Red sky in the morning is a sign warning that bad weather is coming during the day.
A rainbow in the evening predicts rain the following day.
A moon with a halo at night is a sign of rain or snow (in high latitudes).
Birds flying low in the sky indicates coming rain.
Spiders repairing their webs and making them bigger speaks of bad weather approach.
Wind blowing from the east is sign of harsh weather on the way.
Flowers close their petals during day indicates a storm's brewing.

The weather signs indicated we were in for some rain last weekend, but nothing is an indicator for the amount of rain we'd get. I empty my rain gauge twice, noticing that north of town we got 4.06 inches which seemed like a fluke. But friends south of Wharton said they got 4.25" near Caney Trails ... an aquaintance off Chudalla said he 4.2" . What did you get, this side & west of the Colorado R.? Wasn't expecting the cool front we got last nite either. Pleasant at around 68-deg most of the day. www.weatherforyou.com predicts Low tonite at 51, Hi 69 Thursday Lo 49, Hi 69 Friday Lo 49, Hi 61 Saturday Lo 40, Hi 61 Sunday Lo 45 ... it is Spring, right? Or can winter be far away? ... Oh Gawd, the threat of Global Cooling; that'll drive the global warming conspiracists nuts...
