This is my first post on this (or any) board...so I hope I am doing it right. If not, bare with me. Anyway, I am looking to purchase a gas grill. Anyone have lessons learned they can pass on to me or have any suggestions as far as a brand/model? Any help will be appreciated. I am expecting to spend some bucks for a good one.

SunBeam makes really nice grill's that are very affordable! Also, make sure to get a cover for the grill if you plan on keeping it outside.

As with anything, you get what you pay for. If you never cooked on one before, I would suggest getting a "cheap" model. If you don't like the way it cooks, you can re-coop some of your money in a garage sale. They cook great but they cook differently than a charcole or Bar B Que grill. Cheap models will not last long if you do not clean them regularly. The one I have is three years old and the burners are rusted through and need replacing. No telling how many times I used it. (I cook in the winter too) The top grill is about gone but the bottom is still ok. Next one will have better burners and grills in it.

I bought a fancy Jenn-Air about three years ago. It cost about 900 bucks. As Bman said, you get what you pay for. It's still just a gas grill. Charcoal grilling can't be compared to gas grilling. I find the steaks usually dry out much faster on the gas grill no matter how I adjust the heat. I'm buying an Old Smokey just to get the taste back from a charcoal burner. I would settle for a small Hibachi, but I can't find one locally. I see them all the time on the internet.

Stainless steel is the way to go.... (This close to the gulf)
But take a magnet with you. If it doesn’t stick its good stainless steel grill... if it does or tries too its not good a stainless steel grill.. It will rust easier/faster...
Also, go for brass burners.
I have a Coleman, but my next one will be a Jennair.. I really want an outdoor kitchen enclosed with screen to keep out mosquitoes…..
I was told some of the newer ones cook with infrared… but i missed that episode on HGTV.. they also told me that on the newer ones one side is a gas grill and the other side is charcoal cooking.. an all in one...
