This website is loading exceptionally slow. For the past few days, I click on the pages and leave the room. Wait for the pages to load. This is not happening with any other site, just this one. I have DSL .. it is loading all the other sites I go to normally. Anyone else having this problem? Any idea's as to why?

Only thing running slow on our DSL here is the iTunes downloads. Frustrating at best. You may be experiencing some lag time if other forums on the server are busy. The server does show it's green (normal) right now.

just make sure no one has placed anything heavy on your CPU... sometimes it's an Oxford Dictionary, or a bowling ball in a bag.. or a jade statue of Buddha with a titanium base ..something so common you wouldn't think of it... also make sure there's nothing heavy on the phone line... if you look outside and see a bunch of migratory birds perched on it... scare them off immediately with a shotgun blast or by banging on some pots and pans with wooden spoons.. get the neighborhood kids to participate, this will aid in the reduction of juvenille deliquency...
I hope I've helped...

Well, yeah.. now it's slow... for sure... it's the cold air... everyone knows cold air slows down electronic signals to and from the satellites.... Cheese.. Things will speed up as soon as it warms up... trust me

LOL. Good cartoon ogeezer. On the note of the site loading slow I found a few things...
First, I just got back from a trip overseas. We were gone from Dec 3 to today, the 19th. During that time I was only able to access the forum briefly due to pay per minute internet the in-laws had. We were using a Pentium 300 something mhz Windows 95 machine with 128 meg of ram with a dialup connection of 48k. On average the site loaded great and reasonably fast for the connection. One issue it did have was downloading certain forum hosted images whih could at times slow the connection. As a result in the next few weeks once things die down at home and we get over jet lag, I'll host the images myself.

I think I figured out most of the problem ... I got on here this morning very early. No problems .. everything loaded ultra fast. I think that as the day moves on .. the site gets loaded with people getting on and off and my connection gets slower and slower. Works better in the middle of the night as well.

I'm on 3.0 mbps DSL and rarely have any issues loading here at all. I do get the wonky image thing every so often but not so much in the slow loading dept.

What is your computer system setup? I'm using multiple types across various times of the day with very few issues at all.
HP System #1(Laptop) Windows Vista Home Premium Intel Core Duo 1.66ghz 3.0 gig memory
HP System #2 (Desktop) Windows XP Home Pentium D 2.0ghz 1.0 gig memory
HP System #3 (Laptop) Windows XP Home Intel Centrino 1.86ghz 512 mb memory
Toshiba System #4 (Laptop) Windows XP Home Intel Pentium D 1.2ghz 512 mb memory
Dell System #5 (Desktop) Windows XP Home Intel Pentium D 1.?ghx 1.0 gig memory
All systems run the same messenger program in the background. Normally have email running in the background, and work wireless with the exception of two of them. Normal system resources used doesn't go over 40% and hard drive space averages at less than 50% usage. All are used over the course of the day during most hours with Firefox as the browser of choice on all but one of the systems. A combination of internet systems are used from wired DSL, wireless DSL, and even a wired satellite and wireless satellite (averages barely 3x's dialup speed) and all connect with no noticeable difference in speed with one exception.
The Desktop Dell system that's wired satellite seems to lag more so than the other systems. To date we can only assume the issue with it is the internet connection since I've actually had it at my home with a direct DSL connection and it worked fine.
What type of antivirus/firewall are you using? What type of spam detector/remover are you using? Do you know what amount of system resources are being used during routine browsing? What times specifically are you having the difficulty with slow load times? What browser type do you normally use when you have the problems? With the new browser types today are you loading anything in other 'tabs' while trying to load the forum? Do you have any programs running in the background?
I'm just curious. I'm also normally running an internet radio station at the same time as well and if anything the radio station I listen to lags more than the pages I load up. Ya'll have me wondering whats going on but I'm having a hard time duplicating what your getting.

i don't know why but it seems like my prob's started AWHILE back when the configuration of the board changed, what i mean by that is having to move the whole thread from left to right to read everything, that's when it started for me.........i know that sounds stupid but that's when it all happened for me

The forum size and slow loading shouldn't have anything to do with one another. The size should be fine though. I've checked it with 15" Standard, 15 " Widescreen, 17" Standard, and 17" Widescreen. All monitors had a resolution of 1280 x 800 or similar.
Are you having the monitor size issue with certain threads? What is your screen resolution? i could still use some answers to the questions asked above as well, WMDM69. Otherwise it's a crap shoot trying to duplicate your individual situation.

Norton's is a memory hog no doubt. One of my laptops came pre-installed with that overweight program. When I dropped it and swapped to a different AV it freed up about 15-20% of my system resources.
