Diets have never worked for me and I have tried many. But what I am doing now seems to be working so far. I have lost 7 pounds. And it doesn't feeling like I am dieting. What I decided to do was eat anything and everything I want. The only difference between then and now is the portions I eat. I look at the labels of the foods I am eating and if the cereal box says that a serving size in one cup cereal and a half cup milk, then that is exactly what I serve myself. I am also snacking on all this snack food now that are labeled 100 calorie snacks. And I will have either diet tea or diet drinks. I try to stay away from things white like bread, rice, pasta, flour or potatoes. And if I do give in to temptation I will steal a french fry from my kids plate or taste the pasta before I serve it. Now if I could only find the time to exercise I know my weight lost would go allot faster. I have lost the seven pounds in 3 weeks. I know it doesn't sound like much but I have heard that the average weight loss is two pounds a week. So I am not doing to bad. And I have notice a difference in the way my clothes are fitting. Still a little snug buy not tight like before.

Congratulations September2006 and welcome to the board. I tried dieting, I tried the pills, I fell off the wagon. When I diet I feel like I'm dying lol I will jump back on the wagon again eventually, but it just seems that I don't have the will power to do it at all. I was listening to a guy on tv the other day who said he eats everything he wants and even has desert at night, but has 1 glass of water before, during, and after his meals. I think water is the key, I just have a hard time drinking that much water without feeling like I'm floating away. Yes, I've become a little discouraged lately....

Thank you for the welcome. I think I am going to like it here. I saw the same guy on TV and I could not do the water thing. I can barely drink 3 glasses of tea a day. But I started doing this when I saw a popular TV star talking about she had lost the weight by just watching her portions. So I decided to try it. I was to scared to try the pills, every label I read had to many warnings for me. But I think I will stick with this for awhile.

I went to the doctors last Thursday and I have lost 10 pounds!! And it doesn't even feel like I am dieting. My favorite meals so far is fajita tacos. I fix the tacos with just enough grilled chicken and then I pack all the lettuce, tomatoes and salsa I want. Chalupas are also filling with beans, chicken and the same toppings with a little cheese. Both are filling and taste great. I don't feel like I am missing out on anything because I am eating everything I want just in moderation.

Several months ago I stepped on the scales and to my surprise (well, not really) I weighed 319 pounds..... YIKES, I thought, this is too much, and that made start the diet that I am on now. It is my Mother's diet known as the "Cup and Saucer" diet. The Saucer is your dinner plate, one helping, and no snacks. The Cup if it's stew or chili and just be senseable about what you eat. So far I've lost 39 pounds

Way to Go for all of you! I am a water drinker, I drink about a gallon a day .. I need to loose about 50 pounds to be healthier. My stumbling block is getting enough exercise .. you would think I would get a lot going back and forth to the bathroom, but I guess not. So, I ride my bike. I just need to get on it more. I am also a bread eater .. everything can be a sandwich .. plus .. I am a snacker, impulse eater and social eater. So there .. I have admitted all my crimes .. let the weight melt away. If only it were that easy.

Packed on a few pounds since i quit smoking, and stopped doing morning PT when retired from military but with diet and exercise, I'm nearly down to what should be. My problem is, riding a stationary bike is boring, tho I can watch TV and do it inside AC house/outa the rain. To get more out of it, and accomplish one of my many honey-do tasks, I've come up with a contraption mating a bicycle with a reel-type mower that's really taken the pounds off.

That's pretty much the way mine looks but I used an old reel push mower with the wheels on the end of the reel spindle, rather than behind it. I'd provide a pic but since I gave my daughter my digital camera to take to college 'n I'm such a tightwad, I haven't picked up another and besides, your jpg makes my point.

I weigh my self every three days. Today, even after the Christmas Turkey, I lost another pound. My wife did cook a "French Lemon Chess" pie and I havn't had any yet. If I have a slice I know it will add at least 5 pounds on it's own. Six slices will be 30 pounds. What a delimma.........I dearly LOVE that pie.
