Well, after all of my innumerable "girlie" problems, as it were, it's come down to this: a hysterectomy/salpingo-oophorectomy. I'm scheduled for July 17th, just 12 days before I turn 29. Anyone have any experience with hysterectomies?

I had a total hysterectomy at 27. I got over the "never have kids again" part after a while. But, I got over the pain and all the other problems real fast. Took hormones for about a year, but they made me feel miserable. I am now almost 48 and honey .. I aint looking back. Dont miss any of the junk I had to deal with before.

Best thing I ever did! I took hormones for a couple of years, then stopped them. No problems whatsoever. Good luck to you!

Thanks y'all! I believe I'm ready for it! Two weeks from Tuesday, thank goodness. I ended up in the ER this a.m. with pain. (Should be in bed now, lol.) I'm just ready to be done with the whole thing.

Had one at age 40 and would make a great poster child! Docs recommended it from the time I was 24, but ... just couldn't handle the loss of child-bearing potential. Fully expected to go through a grieving process after the deed was done. Well, I'm here to tell you, it didn't happen. Being through with the pain, the roller coaster ride that infertility caused, the anemia caused by related problems - all gone, all done, all over - hallelujah! What a load off! Get ready for the REST OF YOUR LIFE! I did take hormones for almost 10 years afterwards. If I didn't take them I cried at everything. Used the hormone patch most of that time. Estrace - it may have been called. Wish I'd listened to those docs and had it sooner rather than later.
