Ok, so little Tucker has had this nasty cough for about 4 weeks now...we've been to the doc at least 3 times. Have another appt. this afternoon at 1:15. I'm so scared that he has bronchitis or pneumonia or something, and they're not taking it as seriously as I *think* they should. Bless his little heart, he was coughing so hard in his sleep last night that he threw up. That scares me. I'm using a humidifier, just like they told me. I'm giving him his Rx cough medicine and steroids (second round), just like I'm supposed to...something's gotta give! Anyone go through this with their young'uns?

Not a mom, but I am a dad. After you go to the same doctor the second time, and he/she tells you to keep doing the same thing even though the symptoms have not gotten better, then it's time to try a different doctor.

Thanks, wrangler. Ironically enough, TJs doc was booked today, so we're seeing the nurse practitioner...saw her when Tucker was 2 weeks old, and I like her, so that's a good thing.

not knowing how old Tucker is, there was a spot on TV news last nite about avoiding giving children under Age-2 over the counter cough medications like Robitussin, Therma-Flu and the like without first talking with a physician (medical doctors only) ... seems there has been incidence of small children having convulsions and other harsher reactions (a couple of deaths have been reported) ... I could suggest a lot of treatments for adults but refrain from giving medical advise without a license for care any child. If you cannot see or are unhappy with your doctor's diagnosis or treatment, like WRANGLER suggested, see a different physician!

Thanks, ogeezer. I heard a little blip about that on TV, but had no idea there were deaths involved. I'm neurotic enough that I won't give Tucker ANY medicine w/out consulting the doc. I think the problem was that his ped. was treating the symptoms in hopes that Tucker would improve w/out antibiotics. We went in yesterday for a chest x-ray. Thank God he doesn't have pneumonia, but he does have bronchitis/bronchialitis (I don't know what the difference is, but that's what they said...). I suspected he had bronchitis, but it just felt like FOREVER before anyone actually diagnosed it. He's now on azithromicin, and is doing pretty well. With the exception of the doc visit yesterday, I've kept him in out of this nasty weather so that should help. He should be better soon...I'll just keep praying!
