Anyone redone their kitchen lately? I'd like to put in a Silestone countertop, but Home Depot is the only place I know who has those. Anywhere else? How about recommendations for a contractor for a simple kitchen re-do? refinishing cabinets - not replacing them. New backsplash, sink, countertops in a fairly small kitchen.

Thanks - that's a number we didn't have. We now have a list of 8 or so people and are waiting for call backs and estimates. Some of the numbers we've been given don't do cabinets - though they do some of the other things we need. We're hoping that one of those names will do it all! Thanks again!

Have you tried Sulak's cabinet shop in Ganado?

Too funny, Isabo! I would rather get an Extreme Kitchen Makeover that sent me on vacation while they were remodeling!
Serenity - Sulak is coming out to do an estimate. We've gotten 12 names now and have called most of them. We've set 3 appointments for estimates and are waiting for call backs on several others.
Biggest problem is our heart wants new cabinets, but our wallet wants refinished ones!
El Campo Carpet Outlet (I think that's the name - on the way out of town to 59) does silestone countertops and tile backsplashes. They came today and we should have an estimate tomorrow. We also have an estimate from a countertop place in Victoria and one in Sugarland.
I just want it finished!

I redid my kitchen. Got the unfinished cabinets from sutherlands and put them in then you just stain them and seal them. was alot cheaper than custom cabinets and they look great! i can send you some pics if your interested in seeing how they came out just pm me. then we put up like 2x2 sheets of tile behind the countertops and sealed them. Got the countertop from Lowes it was like 90 bucks or so.

I'm down with the extreme makeover I'm just not sure, given the current Wharton County property tax climate how we could afford the end result. What the heck...it would be worth it just to get to stand around w/Ty Pennington!!

That's brilliant speaksfree! I need at least one neighbor like you!
Hard to believe you only spent $200. I spend that much just cleaning out the room, putting up the tape and getting the undercoat on the walls.

Ok .. its too late for a forum breakfast today .. I went to Rio's for breakfast .. its not buffet .. good breakfast .. like Larry's or Irene's .. same kind of stuff. The only difference is they have biscuts on the menue as well as traditional breakfast and Mexican stuff for breakfast.
