My 1 1/2 year old son can take his diaper off at anytime, even with his onsie still on and buttoned. (Regular escape artist haha). He does it any chance he gets. Some people have told me that it's a sign to try potty training, but I feel being 1 1/2 he's still too young and won't understand. Your thoughts?

I suggest your son's going to be a chipendales dancer, or maybe ray stevens protege` .... oh yes they call him the streak! haha
Hell i dunno what to tell you, if it was my kid i would prolly use duct tape, but really i think he just wants to have that "free" feeling like when a man wears boxers.

Been there done that...honestly nothing really worked, just time....you can see if your little man is interested in the potty, but I agree with you - I doubt it . Let 'em run around nekkid for a little while at home, right now he's really eating up the attention he's getting by doing it - a little freedom never hurt, and the novelty will wear out soon. As long as you watch him pretty carefully, he won't make much of a mess at all. Being out and about is enough of a distration he most likely won't try it unless he is really really bored and remembers this neat little trick. And having tried it (lord help me) duct tape DOES work and DOES help keep it on...but is NOT a good idea when it's a 'dirty' diaper...and if your little one likes to wiggle...'nuff said. Can't be any worse then my 2 1/2 year old (still working on potty training) who got over the stripping stage a long time ago, but who's newest trick is peeing on my foot before getting in the tub....any suggestions on this?? He's the first out of my 5 (3 are boys) to try this little number!! Pretend this is my foot..... "MY FOOT" if only i could have found a picture of a foot, it would have been perfect!!!!

Some kids don't like the feel of a soiled diaper against their skin. Those kids usually do train a bit earlier. We put cheerios in the toilet so our guy could have target practice. I think he trained in record time.

SJ - sometimes desperate times call for desperate measures, especially when you haven't a clue on how to keep the dang thing on due to malfunction of the child (in other words, dang smart pulling a Houdini outta their diaper!!!) Isabo - the cheerios didn't work for mine...after the first tried to fish them out to EAT them...I NEVER tried it again....

A friend had TWIN hudini's and they would strip each other and sling diapers in the process .. Not a pretty sight. Their dad decided to put the diapers on Backwards .. tapes on the hiney side then. Seemed to work for a while .. till they figured out they could sneak up behind each other and surprise strip each other. Then the race was on to catch the nekid little kids. By the way .. this was when they were only a year old. So try that .. see if it helps.

We floated little bits of toilet paper. Worked fine. Back then the kids wore training pants and could easily tell when they were wet - do the pull ups work that way? My babysitter at the time - an old granny lady - wouldn't work with toilet training unless it was warm enough for them to run around in a T-shirt and those training pants. That was when our son was about 2 1/2. He didn't go to kindergarten in a diaper so I guess it worked.

Honestly I think 2 1/2 - 3 1/2 is about the right age - between this time all of mine were trained, albeit between all the tricks and trials, haha. Each child is an individual and different - what works for one may not work for another - but that's ok. When he/she is ready...it'll happen ...it always does lol

Just one more reason to not have kids! I can just take my dog outside to do his business. I'm just kidding. I'm sure one day I'll be ready for kids. As experienced mothers, would I be crazy to wait until I'm in my thirties to start having kids?

30 aint bad... rate im going it'll be like 40's when I get around to finally having kids but dogs are great... aint gotta send em to school, they dont talk back much, dont lie to you, dont gotta keep buying them clothes year after year (ok well i do that), dont gotta send em to college, pay for a wedding, or worry about who their dating...

I'm in my 30's and at this point we'll have to get ours from Rent A Kid. It's never too late.

sj, I guess you're right about that never too late thing. Not too long ago that sixty two year old lady had a baby!! txreddog, your Yorkie sounds low maintenance. Mine constantly talks back to me. He also wants to date something other than my leg!! He gets pi$$ed off when I try to put clothes on him. He could also use college (obedient school) He has personality, that's for sure. I guess boys are just more difficult than girls.

I am so glad ya posted on this because I have a 1 year old and a 2 year old both taking their diapers off wet or dry!
My 2 year old loves to run around naked and goes in the potty all day if he is naked! If he has a diaper on he goes in the diaper! If he has undies on he goes in the undies. So I am stuck on what to do also!
The cheerio thing I am like yall my kids always are trying to play in the toilet. They would definitely try to eat them too!
So a lot of people tell me its easier to train a girl than a boy is this true??? I will never know about training a girl.
