have always heard you could microwave popcorn using regular popcorn in a jar.. cllick on "View All Steps on One Page" upper left box... the navigation on this site is iffy... Cheaper Microwave Popcornthink I'm going to test this out I have a stapler, but I don't want to use metal in this way.. Gonna get some plastic paper clips...

Shoot...just go to Wally World, go to the microwave section and get a "Presto PowerPop". It's a microwave popcorn popper. Even better is that you use regular popcorn from the jar or bag and no oil. I like to pop the popcorn and then spritz on some butter or some butter flavored Pam (no calories) and Presto! (Pun intended) Check it out!

Thanks Puprisam, Sounds like the Presto Power Pop is better than buying little brown bags all the time.. should be cheeper.. But what about the accompanying "Power Cup Concentrators" you have to buy with the "Presto Power Pop" device... do they last very long?... do you have to use them?.. what's the deal with them?

i remember popcorn before microwave..... we would pop it in a skillett. Me too, and I remember when the Jiffy Pop stuff came out... we went wild... Grandma had one of those long handled popcorn poppers and in the winter would make popcorn in the fireplace like she did when mom was a little girl... I think that was some of the best popcorn I ever laid a lip over...

I keep re-using the power cup concentrators until they look kinda burned and then I replace them. It's still cheaper than the other stuff and you get to customize what you do with your popcorn without the oil. I think it tastes pretty darn good.....just had some a little while ago...give it a try....I highly recommend it.

You can get a supply of the power cup concentrators at Wally World also for a decent price. Yes, you do need to use them. And besides that, Orville Redenbacher endorses the product...what more do you want!?!....trust me...you'll never buy another bag of microwave popcorn again!

Thanks again Puprism..will go that route..
On the Jiffy Pop, don't know, hadn't seen it in years...but I haven't been looking for it it may still be around in the ready to cook package.. I just remember it was something even us clutsy boys could cook and sure was handy on Friday Scary Movies Night on TV.. Cant' remember the name of the Horror show on Friday night on KTBC TV in the middle and late 50's.. guy dressed in a tux .. think he was trying to be a Dracula... this is before what's her name... Elvira..

Got some HCF Yellow 2#'s for $1.09, Used the sack, 1\4 cup corn, tsp of olive oil, sprinklings of salt.. put in paper bag and stapled as directed... only gave it 3 minutes and all the kernals didn't pop, but those that did taste darn good.. will keep experimenting... they still have Jiffy Pop with the handle on it and everything acoss from the ice cream at the beginning of the aisle..

same recipe, scooped one third cup, counted out and returned 16 kernals to the sack, (that's the number that didn't pop previous batch), popped the same amount of time and all but TWO popped!
Simple things thrill me on account I'm simple minded...

I had to look up this thread... just wanted to Re-Thank Puprisam for recommending the Presto PowerPop Microwave pop corn popper... just enjoying the heck out of it.. a simple pleasure.. saving big bucks using the cheaper bagged (or "jarred") popcorn.. I keep a small plastic one third cup scoop in the PC bag.. so easy.. and I keep forgetting what a good gift this makes..

I can't get over how good it works and how easy it is to use.... and the COST! what you pay for 2 bags of Microwave Popcorn you could buy month's supply of regular popcorn... I keep my measurer scoop tied to the popcorn bag, and just eyeball the amt of oil I pour . I think the Presto and the gear that goes with it makes an excellent gift for students (along with a Microwave).. saving bunches of money.... and it's so darn good!

When i was on vacation my 3 yr old granddaughter spent the night and asked her if she wanted some popcorn. Started to make some on the stove in a pot . She pointed to the microwave and said no grandma I want some popcorn. Had to pick her up and show her the pot was making popcorn. Also, has anyone tried the ice cream cream you can make in ziplock bags? It's very good.
