Just looking for some advice on either one. All the research we've done in the past few days has me pulling my hair out and I'm bald. From all appearances it's a Mac versus PC type debate as to which is better, more stable, and more reliable as far as hardware. Does anyone have any suggestions for models out there to look at specifically? Pros Cons? The wife is looking to use it for work at the ER for a dictionary spell checker/drug reference guide thing. I'd like to toss gps ability into the mix and have it upgradeable as far as memory.

I've been looking around and still can't make heads or tales of it. I'm going to have to kick up the purchase date to soon for my wife. It seems some new old doctor working in the ER now has a bug up his arse to have the nurses calculate the amount of medication to give the patients. That's all well and good, however, he's telling them in metric specs for weight of the person. As such they are not used to getting a patients weight in kg and have to convert that to pounds then calculate the proper dosage. In my mind since he's the odd man out he's really opening the door for medical mistakes and errors. What does he care though it's not his life on the line and not his lawsuit to worry about since he'll toss it on them for poor calculations. Needless to say the amount of time digging through charts isn't helpful either.
One of the drug manuals has the conversion calculators in it thus the urgent need for clear information.

I have some experience in implementing mobile solutions for health care. At my current organization we use the HP iPAQ hx2795 Pocket PC for the residents of our hospital.
The software that we pre-load for them is Epocrates. This software has been working well for them so far. Also the pocket PC's are configured to communicate with our e-mail exchange server.
Have y'all made a decision? I lean toward the Windows Mobile based devices because Palm has not made any improvements with their products in quite some time. Windows Mobile is the operating system now being used in smart phones. Palm based devices have been slowly going out.

Sorry about not getting back with this topic. No we haven't made a final decision yet. I'm leaning towards the pc version myself since I've read the Palm is not going to support their version much anymore and going towards something else. We're looking more for a computer based handheld now for several reasons. the wife needs it for work and the dictionary aspect. We both need it to run GSAK for geocaching. We've also decided it would be easier for taking to Czech as a handheld pc substitute since we don't want to take the notebook. We've seen the fold up keyboards for it as well that we're liking alot.
