i really enjoy watching Mysteries of the Deep and the other show Deep Sea Detectives. Do any of you watch? I guess my interest in that type of stuff started when i read about the Titanic in the 3rd grade, I think it's all so cool. Anyway i was just wondering if it interested anyone else here!

Tho not what you'd call Bethnic, was a show on Mega-Movers tonite bout oil-rich shieks in UAE building artifical island off Port of Dubai. While engineering & const feats were extraordinary, its the portion on how marine biologists are using low-voltage/amp electricity running thru metallic conductors which stimulates the growth of coral reef formations.
Idea is in the super-salty Persian Gulf (saltier than open seas), once coral forms reefs, flora and fauna including crustaceans and fish will be attracted there. A noble undertaking indeed, and glad these middle asians are doing something worthwhile with thier oil profits other than arming terrorists with weapons to attack and kill Americans.
With envirowackos in U.S. claiming our coral reefs are disappearing around Florida and Carribiean, maybe we should look to the efforts of the Dubai marine project as a way of solving the coral issue here instead of b1tching or pointing fingers at industry...

yeah i know so i switched it over to the new adam sandler movie 'Click', so glad i did because i laughed my a$$ off...............just what i needed Not the remake of the Longest Yard, I hope. That is another of Hollywood's bash Texas because Bush lives here flicks. That entire flick does not represent the way it is in TX prison system. It's an absolute shameful display of authenticity or continuity. The inmates in that movie aren't wearing the Prison Whites found in TDCJ; that must have shirt-tails tucked in; don't include button down shirts either. And unlike the hairstyles found in Tx prisons (nothing longer than top of ear length, except in female population units), that flick has inmates with long hair, dreadlocks, etc. And finally, armed guards are not found inside the fences of any Tx penal institution, and certainly not walking around or among inmates in a prison yard or playing field. While Adam Sandler is a somewhat comical entertainer, Longest Yard has got to be one of the worst remake films ever made!

I could only watch like the first ten minutes of the movie and then turned it off. I just couldn't get in to it.

You'd think those film executive morons in Hollywood could come up with different titles for remakes, especially when the remake is such a stinker -- ruining whatever glory the original film garnered.

I'm curious if they'll ever find that flight of torpedo bombers (Flight-51, i recall), lost enroute to Chicken Shoals (between Florida 'n the Bahamas) on a practice bombing mission in near perfect weather in the late 1940s -- touched on in the Spielberg movie "Close Encounters of a Third Kind" starring Richard Dreyfuss.
That should've been easier to find than that Mercury capsule that sunk during the '60s or the pieces of the Challenger that exploded 63-seconds after Cape Caneveral liftoff in '86.

Everytime somebody finds a TBM or a part from a TBM in that area, there's a new uproar about finding the lost flight 19 or what ever it was called.. was thinking they found them last year or so...
Seems like everytime I watched that movie with someone 10-15 yrs younger, I had to explain the significance of that scene.

i've watched many shows about that and they think what happened is that they actually flew further out to sea and ran out fuel.....................then the mystery began it's always been so fascinating to me

youre right DD -- twas Flight 19 ... mental lapse here with place called Area 51
Guess the magnetospectometers being used by oceanographers make it easier to find huge steel ships at great depths than small, aluminum-sheathed planes like those of Flight 19 or that flown by Amelia Earhart.
Just yesterdy, some English ocean vessel searchers discovered a masted sailing ship laden with New World treasure which sunk near its coast at an extreme depth, tho exact location has not be disclosed for obvious reasons.
Had Flight 19 or Amelia Earhart's planes been carrying something of real value, prehaps they would've been found by now.

There's some declassified reports of that being the case, including statements of Admiral Chester Nimitz, who commanded naval operations in the Pacific after the attack on Pearl Harbor. As such, there's a strong possibility that FDR knew we were going to be attacked by the Japanese, and left us vulnerable in Hawaii, the Phillippines, and other American islands as a way of bringing the U.S. into the war. If that's the case -- as declassified intelligence so indicates -- what Democrat President, Franklin D. Roosevelt did was far worse and of a far greater deceitfulness than what GWBush used to lead us into the war in Iraq.

one of my favorites American Aces was Robert S. Johnson who flew the P-47. I Read his book "Thunderbolt".. read it about 35 years ago.. dam good reading..

Hey DD .... did you see the Dogfight segment on Vietnam vet & flying ace, Duke Cunningham -- the U.S. House Rep who resigned from the House on November 28, 2005 after pleading guilty to accepting at least $2.4 million in bribes and underreporting his income for 2004? He pleaded guilty to federal charges of conspiracy to commit bribery, mail fraud, wire fraud, and tax evasion -- it was truly amazing what he did in the skies over North Vietnam. That's what real heroes do in difficult situations...

Sure did... he disappointed me by being a crook... Cancelled his hero status.. Puts him in the company of Jack Murtha, William Jefferson, Cynthia McKinney, Harry Reid, Ted Kennedy and John Kerry and other commie lovers.. That's why I'm so pissed off at Jack Murtha escaping the noose on his ABSCAM dealings.. The Democrat Party and the MSM gave him a pass on his criminal activity.. and Democrat Diane Feinstein was on the Military spending committee that directed monies straight into her husbands company's no bid... boom! PULL OPEN YOUR POCKET AND I'LL TOSS IN A WAD! Focus is always on the Democrat and MSM's opposition..
