Whether burned to a crisp in the sun or tanning bed, here's a sunburn remedy, I got from a nurse, employed by the Everglades Nat'l Park, with whom I worked while doing a restoration project at Fort Jefferson in the Dry Tortugas. It is particularly usefull for fair skinned persons, and even enhances skin toning tans.
THINGS YOU'LL NEED: 1)A bathtub to do this in (preferably porcelain, so it wont stain) 2)A pitcher (not baseball player) 3)A rag that you dont mind getting stained 4)Water 5)Three bags of black tea
STEP 1 - PREPARE THE TEA Fill a pitcher with warm water and soak the tea bags in it. When you have the water almost black --.the stronger you brew the tea, the better it is. For a really horrible burn, use whole tea leaves; brewing them up in a small amount of water, then applying the leaves directly to the sunburn.
STEP 2 - DAB IT ON Strip down, so as not to get any of your clothes. Dunk a soft cloth into the tea, and dab it onto the sunburn. DO NOT WIPE IT OFF! Let it absorb into the skin. Once its dry, re-apply as necessary, but never wash it off. Applying a treatment before bedtime will make for a better night's sleep, giving the tea time to work its magic. The next morning, take a cleansing bath or shower to remove the tea from the skin. The sunburn will have subsided or be gone. Hint: the sooner you can apply the tea after you get the burn, the quicker and more effective this treatment will be.
