Even I agree that the posts in question were out of line.
I don't know Bobby and haven't heard his music but am among many pulling for his safe return. It is obvious by listening to people around town that he was a significant part of many people's lives and is also clear that he was not aware this role.

Some seem to believe the information given by some that do not post here and assume it is a free for all. They are sorely mistaken. Using information as was mentioned as a possible 'why' as far as I'm concerned is akin to the tabloid trash at the checkout line. Nevermind the fact that he at present time doesn't have the ability to come in forum himself and refute or confirm said information. His family could, I suppose, but I will not have that mantle placed on their shoulders. They are dealing with more than enough with the situation. Bottom line that just plain won't be allowed in a situation as this.

I didnt see the post mentioned, but I can guess what "link" was posted. I have seen it. Shortly after Bobby went missing. Personally, I think it was put there by someone else. I have NEVER heard that sort of "informattion" about him. Trust me .. given my experiences in this town, I would have heard. I think someone put it there to make him look .. questionable .. to small minded people, who cant look further than the end of their noses. PM me if you want to know what I am talking about.

Holy shiz-nit:
What did I miss when I was out of town? P/M me if you have to or don't want to put it out in the open. I'd like to know what was said about Bobby. He was one cool guy.

Everyone, let's please stop focusing on what the jerk said. Don't give him the attention he is looking for. This thread is about Bobby Jones and what a great guy he IS. Let's re-focus our attention on Bobby and pray that he comes home.

He was a real sweet guy that made so many people happy, and I don't know anyone that knew him that didn't like him.
Whoever posted that crap needs to be horsewhipped. Shouldn't be too hard to chase it down for the computer gifted type people.

I heard that the band broke up, that is very sad to hear. I'm sure it was hard on them to keep going on without Bobby.

I can tell you that no attempt will be made to recover the vehicle until the river stage is at 12 feet or until the river slows down. It’s simply not safe for divers to get into the water.
We receive calls daily asking why this can be done. This is hard for Bobby’s older fans to understand. We appreciate their concern, anger and sadness over this situation but there is simply nothing to be done.
Every day since the discovery of the license plate it has been agonizing to drive daily over the bridge to el campo and to return home. two times a day and at work we're reminded of this. while you can turn it off, we can not.
You can not begin to understand what we’re going through. Everyday I expect to see Bobby walk into my office and say ‘what’s up bird?”
While this is not good for his KULP family it is worse for Bobby’s family.
The comments made by some are truly heartless and cruel but they are not surprising. We live in a time when it’s possible to hide behind a name on the internet and say things without being held responsible for those comments.
I pray that you never have to go through this.

I think most of us who keep KULP on in the background all day and know Bobby Jones understand everyone's concern, anger and sadness.. !
I don't think anyone here was critical with anyone except, like you we would like to see Bobby walk into the office tomorrow.. !
our prayer goes out to the family.. !

Yeah WMDM-69 it is different.. but I think the post by KULP... kinda reading between the lines felt that we were in some way disrespecting him.. and I think most of the regulars here listen to Bobby and enjoy going to dances where he played.. sure we had one dumba$$.. but think webmaster took care of his butt quickly.. don't think most of us hide behind our post.. in most cases everyone of the regulars know who each other..
we hope that they didn't take our discussion as something else..

I don’t think he was lumping any of you together. Yes he is upset, but he has been very nice and thoughtful to Bobby’s family and KULP’s listeners. You made the comment about not listening KULP anymore. Well whatever… you are simply stating a fact as you see it and so is he. KULP listeners listened to him everyday on the radio and I am sure they are missing him as much as we are. But you have to understand, although it may not be true for you, some people out there are just interested in gossip, not the fact that with every single rain drop that falls our friend, co-worker… family member is yet not found. Like everyone at the station, not one single day has gone by with out us thinking about Bobby and remembering last conversations with him and going over every detail in our heads over and over again wondering what happened and if he did take his life what could we (the people that saw him every day) could have done to help make that day a better one. You see these comments here on the forum, but we are also out in the community bombarded by questions in person and by phone. I actually had people I didn’t even know call me at home to ask me questions about cancer, arthritis, his sexuality… anything anyone can find, no matter how much it hurts us, they do. He is not only a co-worker but we are a family. We face this everyday and will continue to face it until we have answers to where our friend is.
Yes, I am sure some of you will remark shortly to this comment and attack it anyway you can because someone will take it the wrong way, but the fact remains… we all still cry every a day, we still get asked to dumbest questions and we still don’t have closer to something that has devastated all of lives (KULP’s and the community.)

Kate, gossip is a cruel thing. That is wharton county for you. One of the biggest gossip places I have ever seen in my life. I have been guilty of it myself! I do try and stray away from it tho, I believe whatever you put out there you will get 3 times back. Gossip is a way of life for many in this community. It is a crying shame some do not stop to think how it might effect someone else. Do not know if what was posted was factual or not, could care less. People need to stop and realize its the internet, something like that can be done to anyone. Hope you never have to go thru it.
